talking points
i find it funny that one of the most common anti-feminist talking points is that ‘feminists don't want equal rights because if they did they’d also be advocating for things like pulling the disproportionate rate of men out of homelessness'' as if the right wing person saying this isn’t also in favor of upholding the system that necessitates a pipeline of homelessness (extremist capitalism) - and as if the feminist they're saying this to isn't also in favor of policies that aim for homelessness to be nonexistent.
this only means that the people saying this are either unaware of overlapping social and economic positions people may hold, or they have a concerningly bad understanding of the economic policies that each side fights for and against. in either case: the cognitive dissonance will blind them from ever winning that argument. i’m so over men waiting for feminists to fix their problems. why is it such a moral crime that feminism might only focus on women's issues? what other marginalised group’s movement is expected to advocate for their oppressors like this?
not even that - they don’t even realise feminism DOES actually fix most of the economically related issues due to it being inherently anti corpo capitalist. they also say that men have higher incarceration rates, higher suicide rates and are expected to provide for women as if that isn’t all caused by patriarchy… this is why i always press on them on their economic stance in these convos too bc all of these issues are either caused or exacerbated by extremist capitalism
