i appreciate all of the people who are trying to create free mesh networks, easy setup solar panels, or open source hydroponics whatever tf. but i always feel skeptical when they say they are doing it for the ‘good of the world’ or something. it moreso just feels like… they really like greenfield projects. and i get it! its super fun to be unconstrained by limitations and mindsets of those b4 you
but this criticism is why i generally believe the world they want to live in will never come to pass. bc those exactly like them will have the exact same urge of ‘lets burn it all down and restart’ and find another reason other than anti-capitalism to do it
its a cycle, and perhaps the markets will disappear, but the same level of inefficiency and infighting will probs remain
this is a weakly held belief idk if i rlly subscribe to it the argument can be made that with no profit motives the infighting disappears potentially tho it gets even worse (narcissism of small differences)
